JM Cabrol Quartet — 2016 review

31 July 2016

JM Cabrol Quartet @ La Douceur des Arts

The JM Cabrol Quartet is a group of friends who have been playing together since 2010: Jean-Michel Cabrol (tenor sax), Philippe Panel (bass), Vincent Calmettes (percussion) and Gérard Poncin (keyboards).

Their musical closeness sounds natural and results in beautiful harmonies as they alternate between great jazz standards (notably Ella Fitzgerald’s ‘Summertime’)  and their own compositions such as Cabrol’s ‘Vent d’Espagne’ and ‘Nuit d’octobre’; and Poncin’s ‘Nuit bleue sur les Corbières’.

The band played on til late, with the warmth and quality of their music keeping the audience’s attention despite the somewhat cool end to the evening.

Next concert: JM Cabrol returns with Lidiane Arbogast and The Lady Soul Four this Sunday 21 August. There are only a few places left so if you haven’t yet booked, please call 06 27 28 22 04 or email

“Thanks for a great evening, really enjoyed the music – and the food.”
