Sunday 17 July
- Mickaël SOURD: guitar
- Frédéric LEGER: double bass
- Thomas DOMENE: percussion
- Guillaume GARDEY DE SOOS: trumpet
Consisting of Mickaël Sourd on guitar, Frédéric Léger on double bass, Thomas Domene on percussion, and Guillaume Gardey de Soos on trumpet, the group takes its inspiration and influences from the jazz scene of the late 1950s. They define their music as part of the hard bop movement — a skilful mix drawing on African roots, rhythm and blues and gospel, with a touch of bebop and swing.
The quartet interprets major pieces by musicians ranging from Kenny Burrell to Lee Morgan, via Horace Silver, Tommy Flanagan and Wes Montgomery. This close-knit group’s love of being on stage together ensures an engaging and high-quality performance. Fresh from the studio, they’ll be playing tracks from their new album.
Recent performances include the Carcassonne Festival, Jazz at Conilhac, Jazz at the Abbey in St Germain des Près, and La Bellevilloise.
