BKO Quintet

BKO Quintet’s music takes us on a journey into the heart of contemporary Mali. Ibrahima Sarr is a powerful percussionist, who masters the sounds of the djembé with ease. He has travelled the world alongside Oumou Sangare.

Fassara Sacko has a voice that will blow you away, and also plays the dunun-drum. Nfali Diakite sings and plays the donsongoni in animist ceremonies; while Abdoulaye Koné, master of the djelingoni, has developed a unique trippy style.

Finally Aymeric Krol, with his international experience, grooves on his ‘strange’ drumset. It was his meeting with Ibrahima Sarr which led to the formation of the BKO Quintet. Together these five musicians perform an unprecedented, hypnotising mix of ‘tradi-modern’ music.
